Man who killed mother nabbed

BALIK PULAU: A petrol-sniffing addict has admitted to killing his 63-year-old mother following an argument with her.

The 29-year-old suspect was nabbed in Jalan Air Putih here, today. He claimed he was high when he stabbed his mother's neck at their house kitchen in Kampung Sungai Burung.

He also admitted to dumping the body into a septic tank before escaping.

Southwest district police chief ACP A. Anbalagan said the suspect was caught around 8.45am and has since been brought to the police lock-up.

“The suspect also admitted that he acted alone without any accomplice,” he said.

The victim's body with stab wounds was found inside the septic tank behind her house by her son-in-law around 3pm on Monday after she went missing for the past week.

The septic tank was 1.5 metres deep, said Anbalagan.

Detectives with sniffer dogs were deployed to locate the suspect, who also has a criminal record for causing grievous hurt in an unrelated case.
