Lawyer charged with CBT involving RM750,000

KUALA LUMPUR: A female lawyer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to misappropriating funds belonging to a client.

Ling Lae Feei, 51, a single mother of two made the plea before Judge Hasbullah Adam.

Ling who was a lawyer for a client and entrusted with RM750,000 was charged with misusing the funds for personal purposes at the 12th floor, Wisma Zelan, Jalan Tasik Permaisuri 2, Cheras, here on Dec 28 2016.

She was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping, and is liable to a fine, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Faridah Nurdinie Bahrum prosecuted while Ling was represented by counsel Jadadish Chandra.

The court allowed the accused bail of RM30,000 with one surety and set Oct 19 for mention. — Bernama
