SEREMBAN: Three families in Kampung Ladang Sengkang, Linggi, Port Dickson, have been evacuated after their houses were flooded following continuous heavy rain since yesterday.
Negri Sembilan Civil Defence Force deputy director Major Mohd Rohaidi Halim said as at 7 pm yesterday, the evacuees comprised 10 people and they were evacuated to the relief centre at Balai Raya, Sungai Raya Linggi, which was opened at 5 pm.
He said the rain had caused flash floods due to overflowing of water from a nearby river as a result of the high tide phenomenon.
“Six houses are if flood water because they are in low-lying areas, but only three families agreed to be evacuated,' he added.
He said the Civil Defence Force and the Secretariat on the Port Dickson District Disaster Management Committee would continue to monitor the situation.
The rain has now stopped and the water beginning to recede, he told Bernama here. — Bernama
