KAPIT: More than 100 dogs were given anti-rabies vaccination during a free vaccination programme held at the State Office Complex at Jalan Bleteh here.
The two-day programme which ended yesterday was organised by the Kapit office of the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
DVS Kapit officer Ricky Jameson said he was happy to note the encouraging response from dog owners here in bringing their pets for the free vaccination.
Several heads of department and senior government officers were also present to give their moral support towards the programme.
Among them were Kapit District Council secretary Jabang Juntan, Kapit Resident’s Office administrative officer Wee Teck Min and Kapit District Council senior assistant environmental health officer Favian Masing Lintang.
Meanwhile the Health Section of Kapit District Council in collaboration with the Sarawak Veterinary Department carried out stray-removal campaign on Thursday and Friday as a preventive measure against the spread of rabies. The team went around Kapit town, Malay settlement areas at Jalan Bleteh, Kampung Baru and along Jalan Airport here to remove roaming strays.
