Plantation workers held over criminal intimidation, weapons seized

Police stand guard over the two suspects following their arrest and seizure of weapons.

MARUDI: Police arrested two local plantation workers after they threatened a manager with a shotgun and machete last week.

The suspects, aged 22 and 27, were detained yesterday following a police report lodged on Aug 11.

It is said the pair was involved in a dispute over their application for leave and uttered threats at their superiors before departing the plantation office.

They returned shortly after with a loaded shotgun and machete and confronted the plantation manager, departing only after being granted approval to take their leave.

Police have seized the weapons believed to have been used in the incident, and are investigating the pair for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
