Man slits wife’s wrist following an argument

GEORGE TOWN: A 39-year-old man detained by police after hacking off his wife's wrist at a parking lot in a flat in Bayan Lepas, about 12.55am here, today.

It is learnt that the couple were in the process of getting divorced after the 24-year-old wife allegedly had an affair with another man two months ago.

The husband had allegedly assaulted the wife in the parking area, probably following an argument.

Police who were alerted soon after the incident rushed to the scene and the victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators also found the knife used during the attack and acting on a tip-off the suspect was detained two hours later in front of a surau in Lebuh Macallum.

Further interrogation by police revealed that the suspect was jealous after his wife allegedly had a relationship with another man for the last two years.

Southwest district police chief ACP A. Anbalagan said the case was being investigated under the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

He said the man had a series of criminal and drug-related offences prior to this incident.

“The man was also sent to hospital to receive minor treatment on his hand during the scuffle with his wife,” he added.
