Lorry attendant losses left leg in lorry-trailer crash

KUANTAN: A lorry attendant lost his left leg when the vehicle he was travelling in rear-ended a trailer at KM85 of the Central Spine Road Lipis-Merapoh, near Kuala Lipis, yesterday morning.

Lipis district police chief Supt Azry Akmar Ayob said the victim and the lorry driver who only sustained minor injuries were on their way to Kuala Lumpur from Kelantan when the accident occurred at 6am.

He said it was believed that the driver had lost control of the lorry due to drowsiness and crashed into the back of the trailer.

“The crash has caused all the lanes to be blocked by the lorry, laden with chickens and a diversion route was opened,” he said in a statement here.

The trailer driver however, escaped unhurt.

Azry Akmar said both of the victims, aged 22 and 26 were taken to the Gua Musang Hospital for further treatment. — Bernama
