AirAsia X places 66 widebody aircraft order

SEPANG: AirAsia X,w has confirmed an order for 66 A330neo widebody aircraft with an additional 34 aircraft, bringing its total order to 100.

AirAsia Group CEO and AirAsia X co-group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the list price for the 100 aircraft is US$30 billion and the 100 aircraft will be used by AirAsia X Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Speaking at a briefing today, Fernandes said the aircraft is suitable for routes such as London, Brazil and Namibia.

The group expects to take first delivery of three planes in the third quarter of 2019, which will likely be for AirAsia X Malaysia, followed by five to six planes in 2020 and 10 planes in 2021 to serve routes from Thailand and Indonesia.
