BALIK PULAU: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to discuss his concerns on the high cost of living when Parliament convenes next week.
Saifuddin said in expressing concern for the plight of the rakyat, the former premier must remember that Pakatan Harapan inherited a country that needs to be fixed after decades of Barisan Nasional rule.
“I would like to tell him that one of the factors that contributed to the rise in the cost of living is also the price of services such as transportation, utilities and health among others,” he told reporters during a visit to small and medium industry entrepreneurs in the southwest district here.
In a recent Facebook posting, Najib expressed concern on the price of essential items, despite the Goods and Services Tax being zero-rated effective June 1.
Najib also said that he was worried that the reintroduction of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) in September would result in higher prices which would burden consumers further.
