SIBU: Coupons worth RM45,000 have been sold to raise fund for Tabung Harapan Malaysia in Sibu.
Tabung Harapan Fundraising Fair organising chairperson Amy Lau said the amount had exceeded the initial targeted figure of RM30,000.
Lau, who is also special assistant to Bandar Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew, said the new target has now been raised to RM50,000 and she was confident it could be achieved.
“RM10, RM50 and RM100 coupons are still available for purchase. Items for sale will include food, beverages and household goods,” she said at a press conference at Bandar Sibu DAP headquarters here today.
The fundraising fair organised by Bandar Sibu and Sungai Merah DAP will be held from 7am to noon at Rejang Park Commercial Centre this Sunday.
She added some of the items could be pre-ordered such as Father's Day cheesecake at RM100 each and an “Ubah” plush toy with the signatures of elected representatives for RM100.
Ling, who was also present, invited members of the public to the fundraising fair not only to play their part in reducing Malaysia's national debt but treat it as their day out to celebrate Father's Day, which also falls on Sunday. — Bernama
