Fire at San Peng flats

KUALA LUMPUR: Two units at the Sri Selangor Flats in Jalan San Peng here were razed in a fire today where both units were totally destroyed.

City Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said no casualties were reported in the 11.40am fire as the two units were unoccupied.

Khirudin said that they had received a distress call at 11.27am.

Two teams from the Hang Tuah and Pudu fire stations consisting of 18 men were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene six minutes after the call was made.

“The fire was believed to have started at a unit on the 11th floor. When we arrived, the fire was raging and had spread to a unit on the 12th floor.

“The fire was doused completely at 12.24pm. The unit on the 11th floor was fully damaged while the one on the 12th floor was 80 per cent destroyed,” he said.

Khirudin said the department was investigating the cause of the fire.
