KUALA LUMPUR: Local and foreign media personnel numbering over 100 descended near the private residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Taman Duta here tonight.
This followed after 16 police vehicles and a truck were seen entering Najib’s residence at around 10.15 pm last night.
Checks by Bernama found that the public, including the residents in the housing area, had also flocked near the entrance to Najib’s residence to find out what was going on.
The situation caused a congestion if over 500 metres along Jalan Taman Duta.
Until 12.40 am this morning, policemen and police officers were still in the residence of the former prime minister to conduct their investigation.
Meanwhile, a check at a luxury apartment in Jalan Raja Laut found more than 10 police vehicles and dozens of policemen, police officers and senior officers from Bukit Aman seen around the lobby and the residential compound.
Bernama’s efforts to reach the area to conduct coverage failed when several policemen acted to prevent the reporter and confiscated her phone to erase the recorded photos during the operation.
However, as soon as the photos taken by the reporter were deleted, the policemen returned the phone to the owner.
Bernama’s attempt to contact Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, Inspector-General of Police, also failed when there was no response to the calls and messages sent through the Whatsapp application. – Bernama
